Here are two delicious barbecue chicken recipes: one classic and one with an international twist.

Classic BBQ Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
  • In a bowl, mix ½ cup BBQ sauce, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the chicken breasts to the marinade and coat them well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  1. Preheat the Grill:
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 400°F/200°C).
  1. Grill the Chicken:
  • Place the marinated chicken on the grill.
  • Grill each side for about 6-7 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Baste the chicken with the remaining ½ cup of BBQ sauce during the last few minutes of grilling for extra flavor.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve with your favorite sides like coleslaw, corn on the cob, or potato salad.

Korean BBQ Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)
  • 1 cup Korean BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:
  • In a bowl, mix Korean BBQ sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, rice vinegar, gochujang, grated ginger, and minced garlic.
  • Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and coat them well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  1. Preheat the Grill:
  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 375°F/190°C).
  1. Grill the Chicken:
  • Place the marinated chicken thighs on the grill, skin side down.
  • Grill each side for about 8-10 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is crispy and charred.
  • Baste the chicken with any remaining marinade during the last few minutes of grilling.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve with steamed rice, kimchi, and grilled vegetables.
